Research Interests

Styles of volcanism and volcanic mechanisms in different planetary environments
Relations between volcano morphology and eruptive style and plumbing.
Impact crater geology. Effects of different planetary environments on cratering mechanisms and crater/ejecta morphology.
Geological mapping and stratigraphy; and interpretation of planetary history and evolution.
Lava flow field development and factors that control the evolution of a flow field.
Hydromagmatic volcanism. Volcanology of Mount Etna, Sicily and other Southern Italian volcanoes. Volcanology of the Azores. Other volcanoes worked on include those of the northern Chilean Andes, Cameroon, Jan Mayen, Columbia River Basalts and Hawaii.
